Bert Bedrosian Produced “The Hornet’s Nest”

Bert Bedrosian is a well-established producer with many contacts in the film industry. His last production was the hit movie, “The Hornet’s Nest”, which was released in May 2014. This film was directed by David Salzberg and Christian Tureaud. It is a documentary that follows two journalists as they go on a dangerous mission with the United States Armed Forces to a hostile valley during the Afghan War. More specifically, it is a “being there” view of the events that take place during Operation Strong Eagle III in 2011.

This film is very apolitical and gives a close up view of the death and destruction that is faced by the U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan. Almost 95% of the movie consists of TV correspondent Mike Boettcher and his son Carlos Boettcher’s personal footage shot with their own cameras. Mike spent more than three decades of his life in various war torn areas, and his adult son joined his father on this. When Bert Bedrosian found out about the dedication of this seasoned journalist, he was on board instantly because he believes that these stories of courage and bravery must be told.


The best part about this film is that it gives an audible and visible firsthand account of what took place in the Kunar Province, a mountainous region in eastern Afghanistan, when this father and son duo were there with the 101st Airborne. IED’s, suicide bombers, firing, shelling, mountains, valleys, Taliban, and grenades are some things that viewers are exposed to throughout the film. Operation Strong Eagle Three takes place over the course of nine days, when it was only supposed to be for a day. The Taliban insurgents put up a strong fight and as a result there were many casualties. The Medical Aid helicopter is unable to reach the wounded and as result there is even more suffering. According to producer Bert Bedrosian, what is brilliant about this documentary is that it doesn’t make any political statements.
